Spearmint is classified as an herbaceous, rhizomatous, and perennial flowering plant of the Lamiaceae or Labiatae family. Spearmint is a species of mint native to Europe and Southwest Asia. Carvone is primarily responsible for the flavour and pungent taste so characteristic of spearmint (Ramesh et al., 2006). Limonene, dihydrocarvone, dihydrocarveol, and carveol have also been identified to contribute to flavour (Lawrence, 2007; Tang et al., 2016). These have been used for a plethora of medical conditions with good effect (Alu’datt et al., 2016b). Expect to find levels of Carvone 50% and greater in our product.
