Mentha Arvensis remains to be the most important source of Levo-menthol. The Water steam distillation of menthol mint oil remains unrivaled amongst processes in obtaining L-menthol. L-Menthol is isolated by freezing at a low temperature. Menthol flakes comprise around 65% of this and the remainder is present as dementholised oil. A 1% loss is accepted during the process.
